Artist's Bio
Sheron Meyer is a Canadian artist based in Vancouver whose work resonates with colour and expressive gesture. Influenced by music, poetry, and the sensory and meditative qualities of nature, each work is a vignette of passion and perception. Her paintings explore the intimacy between the subject and the aromatic, combining veils of colour, texture, and movement until the works begin to reveal themselves. For further information please visit www.sheronmeyer.com. Bio Cindy-Wynne Kolding grew up in Fredericton, NB, and Sudbury, ON. Twenty years old and freshly graduated from Lakehead University, she drove across the country for a short holiday in BC and, apparently, forgot to leave. She decided to attend the Victoria College of Art, as she had always had a knack for drawing. Over the years her study in arts and design continued with courses at the University of Victoria and the Emily Carr College of Art. She continues to develop her painting skills in private study with Anita Nairne. Acrylic paints are Cindy-Wynne’s medium of choice. Her intuitive forays into her inner world start out as abstract art backgrounds. What develops from there is always a surprise. Her deepest feelings and playful nature flow through her hands and embody her work. Her paintings bring positive energy into any environment in which they hang. Cindy-Wynne worked as a graphic designer/assistant editor at the University of British Columbia. Currently, as a yoga therapist, energy-healing practitioner and qigong teacher, she loves to promote creative self-healing in her complementary business, Conscious Moments. Bio

Check her other work at veronikabekker.blogspot.ca Bio I STARTED MY ART EDUCATION AT LANGARA AND THEN MOVED ON TO EMILY CARR UNIVERSITY WHERE I STUDIED ANIMATION. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET A SCHOLARSHIP TO WORK AT THE NATIONAL FILM BOARD IN MONTREAL AND DID NOT RETURN TO ART SCHOOL TILL MUCH LATER. NOW AS A VERY MATURE STUDENT, I GO BACK TO EMILY CARR AND CHIP AWAY AT MY DEGREE. I AM ALWAYS THE OLDEST STUDENT IN THE CLASS AND I LOVE IT. MOST RECENTLY I STUDIED DRAWING AND PRINTMAKING FOR ONE TERM EACH. I GOT BITTEN BY THE PRINTMAKING BUG AND LEARNED INTAGLIO. THAT LED ME TO MALASPINA WHERE I TOOK A COURSE IN LITHO AND ANOTHER COURSE IN LINO PRINTMAKING. AFTER 39 YEARS OF EDITING THE NEWS FOR CKVU AND CTV, I DECIDED TO TAKE RETIREMENT AND RETURN TO MY FIRST LOVE, ART. I NOW HAVE THE TIME AND ENERGY TO FOCUS ON BEING AN ART STUDENT AGAIN. I LOVE THE SMELL OF PRINTING INK IN THE MORNING, IT SMELLS LIKE….CREATIVITY. THE WORKS BEING SHOWN AT ARTS OFF MAIN CAN BEST BE DESCRIBED AND MIXED MEDIUM COLLAGES. THERE ARE COPYRIGHT FREE IMAGES FROM VARIOUS SOURCES THAT I HAVE COLOURED WITH WATERCOLOUR, PENCIL, INK, PASTELS AND EVEN FELT PEN. NO COMPUTERS WERE USED IN THIS PROCESS. I ALTERED THE SCALE OF MANY OF THE IMAGES. IN SOME CASES I HAD IMAGES GICLEE'D ONTO CANVAS BUT ASKED FOR ALL THE COLOUR TO BE TAKEN OUT. I THEN WENT BACK IN AND PAINTED DIRECTLY ONTO THE CANVAS ADDING ADDITIONAL IMAGERY ON THE SIDES, TOP AND BOTTOM. LIMITED EDITION PRINTS OF MOST OF MY WORKS AS WELL AS GREETING CARDS ARE AVAILABLE... Would you like a venue to show and sell your work in the Main Street
neighbourhood? Are you interested in joining a friendly group of artists? Is your work highly marketable and interesting? Then we want you! Arts Off Main gallery is currently seeking submissions for a new artist/partner. We are a group of nine partner artists responsible for the running of the gallery. Each partner has a designated area in the gallery for showing their work and is free to select and display whatever they choose. We take turns staffing the gallery, about 2-3 full days per month each. There is a minimal monthly rent to pay for a convenient Main Street location and a buy-in cost in exchange for 100% of the sale of your work. We are looking for someone who works well with others and has a collaborative approach. Monthly meetings at the gallery allow us to catch up with each other and make collective decisions on the gallery's operations. We also use email to discuss a lot of topics. Our aims are to offer reasonably priced, good quality artwork and gifts as well as to participate in the community. We've raised donations for the Vancouver Food Bank for years and joined in Main Street merchants association activities. Application Process
Interview Artists whose work is approved by the partnership will be invited to bring in some of their work and meet with the Partnership Committee. This will give the gallery a chance to see the actual work and for the artist to meet some of the members and ask any questions they may have. A few facts:

Bio Jennifer Harwood has self directed her art education by taking classes in drawing, composition and colour through Emily Carr College of Arts and Design, the Federation of Canadian Artists and through mentorship opportunities with Vancouver artist’s Val Nelson and Justin Ogilvie. Having had an interest in visual art at a young age, Jennifer took a detour to study and receive a BA in Contemporary Dance from Simon Fraser University. Jennifer’s next artistic venture led her to a diploma in Graphic Design. Wanting to get back into visual art, she started to get involved with the Vancouver Art Guild and the Federation of Canadian Artists, which she is now an Associate member. The most enjoyable part of painting for her is the experience of putting paint and brush to canvas. Her paintings play with bold colour and creatively interpreting the elements of her subject in an abstract way. About Tom Antil
Tom Antil grew up in the United States. His Canadian heritage goes back to 1652, so moving to Canada was like coming home. He taught in Aldergrove for 32 years. In the early ‘70’s he began drawing and painting. He drew from sketches or photos. From the beginning he was influenced by the impressionists, and pointillists in terms of style, the fauvists for their arbitrary choice of colours, folk art for its mural like qualities and people on the street scenes. Tom has painted many landscapes, but currently prefers painting cityscapes. He has painted several hundred paintings. “Observing what I take to be true eye candy in the world around us and trying to recapture and recreate it in a drawing and finally a painting has been a lifetime pursuit for me. The challenge is to portray in a relatively small retangle something that at least approaches the visual excitment that I saw in the first place. Each painting is a new challenge, and as I see new possibilities I hope my work will continue to evolve in a positive way". Tom Antil Biography of the Artist
I am a painter that is inspired and excited by the Canadian landscape. I have been painting and drawing since childhood. Being an organic gardener and landscaper for more than 25 years, I have felt the changes of the weather and heard the sounds of nature and smelled all of the both good and bad aromas of the earth. This sensual work has given me plenty of time to contemplate many ideas-undisturbed. Painting is is stewardship of the soul and organic gardening is stewardship of the land, and this land is my soul. I paint in oil and acrylic too, but watercolour has been with me since taking a class in Saskatchewan as a young girl where the instructor, a wonderful watercolour painter, Kay Bould, inspired me to paint with this most difficult of mediums. Education I studied two out of four years towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Regina. I wanted a fresher take, so I started all over again in the Painting Department at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto. There, I studied for four years and achieved an AOCA Diploma. There my favorite teachers inspired me: I was taught by these conceptual artists: Ian Carr-Harris, Tom Dean and Naboyo Kabota. Somehow, I still wanted to paint, so a kind and patient John Inglis, understood and encouraged me. On Sunday, September 29th come out and discover the many talented artists who will be displaying work in cafes, shops and of course galleries along the Main Street corridor. The Drift is a self-directed art walk where many business from 28th Avenue to 2nd Avenue will be featuring the work of local artists.
