NATALIE WAYI love to conceptualize an idea (especially one I'm passionate about) and bring it to fruition. Throughout my life, and within different fields, this has been fundamental to my work. Many moons ago, my interest in sports and athlete stories - their struggles and successes - lead me to get a Radio and Television Arts degree at Ryerson University. I went on to do creative marketing and communications work within professional sports (Toronto Blue Jays, CFL, Vancouver C's), event management and sports medicine fields.
The most personal of my creative endeavours, however, has always been in the production of my own visual art. Under the Natalie Way Murals & Art umbrella, I am free to develop concepts that combine my interests and experiences in new ways. Ultimately, this will result in the broadest scope of work yet! My paintings are primarily acrylic on canvas or board, although I’m delving further into mixed media work, as it has endless possibilities for abstraction. My landscape art is often inspired by nature’s vibrancy and ability to heal. Sometimes I am pulled to portraiture - usually after doing a commissioned portrait - as I remember how interesting it can be. Additionally, I hand-paint both interior and exterior murals and refurbish/paint concrete statues. I enjoy and welcome the collaborative process for both murals and commissioned art. By being a part of what is produced, many people feel a unique connection with the art. I really enjoy this process as its quite fulfilling to realize these personalized projects.
