                          Lee Sanger

Since my teens I've longed to become the female Van Gogh, refusing to allow the fact that I can neither draw nor paint to be a draw-back. Instead of using a brush and paint to produce works of art, I use a camera and light to create painterly photographs. To create my art, the images are captured traditionally on film. Then having made the initial image, I set wildly about mistreating the film to get it to do things for which it definitely wasn't designed. The processes used for the original capture and manipulation of my images are purely photographic in nature - no pixels or computers were harmed along the way! Once captured and manipulated, the images are scanned so they can be enlarged and printed as archival giclees. Each piece asks for its own presentation and sometimes a brush stroke texture is added to give an even more painterly look. The creation of every piece is a joyful experience which hopefully ignites a spark in others.
