We are enthusiastic supporters of one of the least well known but most effective non-profits in East Vancouver, Britannia High School’s Homework Club. Britannia High School serves students from Grandview-Woodland, Strathcona and the Downtown East Side. The Homework Club is a designated space where they can access help from volunteer tutors, youth workers and counsellors. Healthy snacks and weekly dinners are on the menu in a warm, safe, welcoming environment open to all students at the school. The Homework Club offers social, emotional and financial support for students on the path to successful post-secondary opportunities. Each artist at the gallery has donated an original 10x10 artwork with all proceeds going to the Britannia Homework Club. Our third annual fundraiser, the “Visions of Commercial Drive” collection, is on display now and the 10 pieces will be sold for $99 each on Saturday, October 4th (or October 11th in case of rain). We will also welcome cash donations for the Homework Club throughout the month of October. Join us at Charles and Commercial to meet these remarkable students and some of the equally remarkable teachers and staff who work with them.
